Online Clinical Supervision & Consultancy | Dr Kerri Garbutt

© Dr Kerri Garbutt / GPS Therapy™ – Psychologist offering clinical supervision & consultancy UK.

Clinical Supervision for Therapists, Counsellors & Psychologists

Are you looking for a safe, supportive space to reflect on your practice? Whether you’re newly qualified, building confidence in private practice, or managing complex caseloads, supervision can provide the grounding and professional development you need.

I offer integrative, collaborative online supervision for therapists, counsellors and psychologists across the UK. My approach is warm, encouraging and reflective, helping you feel supported while also challenged to grow.

Together, we can:
– Explore specific client work, including complex or challenging cases
– Reflect on what you bring into the therapy space as a practitioner
– Develop your professional identity and career path
– Gain support as you transition into or expand private practice

Supervision can also complement therapy or psychological coaching as part of ongoing personal and professional development, supporting you to integrate insight and growth across different aspects of your work and life.

I welcome supervisees as whole human beings, bringing not only their professional role but also their lived experience and personal parts of self into supervision. I believe this is especially important for those who may have had negative or overly critical supervision in the past. I create a safe, respectful space where all parts of you can be heard and valued.

About My Supervision Approach

I am Dr Kerri Garbutt, a Chartered and HCPC-Registered Private Psychologist and Clinical Supervisor with over twenty years’ experience.

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic IFS, Schema Therapy, DBT, ACT, and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT),  to support supervisees from a variety of therapeutic orientations.

My experience spans NHS, forensic, and private-practice settings, with particular expertise in complex trauma, personality difficulties, neurodivergence, and long-term therapy. Having run a thriving private practice for several years, I understand the realities of independent work and the balance between care, ethics, and sustainability.

My supervision is grounded in formal, accredited training completed through recognised professional institutes to ensure depth and integrity in each approach. I am:

  • Level 2 trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) through the IFS Institute, with additional Somatic IFS (Step 1 and 2) training with Susan McConnell, and IFS-specific supervision training.

  • Group and Advanced Schema Therapy trained through the Schema Therapy Institute.

  • Trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) through EMDR Association UK.

  • Trained in Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) through the Compassionate Mind Foundation.

  • Trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) through British Isles DBT Training.

  • Trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with Contextual Consulting.

This breadth of accredited training enables me to offer integrative, evidence-based supervision and consultation tailored to your clinical model, client group, and developmental stage as a practitioner. I work collaboratively with psychologists, psychotherapists, and counsellors who wish to reflect on practice within a safe, compassionate, and professionally grounded space.

I also share reflective writing for therapists and supervisors through my Substack publication, The Reflective Therapist, where I explore clinical practice, professional identity, and the inner experience of therapeutic work.

I am listed on the Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS), reflecting my commitment to high standards of supervision practice and ongoing professional development.

I provide online clinical supervision for therapists, counsellors and psychologists across the UK, offering a reflective, supportive space for professional growth and complex casework.

Consultancy & One-Off Professional Consultations

In addition to ongoing supervision, I also offer one-off professional consultation sessions for psychologists, therapists and other mental health professionals.

These can be helpful if you’d like:

  • A fresh perspective on a particular client case
  • Support with a complex or high-risk presentation
  • Space to reflect on ethical dilemmas or professional challenges
  • Guidance around private practice development, boundaries or role transitions

Consultations are delivered online across the UK and can be offered as single sessions or short-term focused work, depending on your needs.
