A Reflective Therapeutic Space for High-Functioning Adults

Dr Kerri Garbutt, psychologist offering high-functioning therapy

For people who appear to be coping on the outside yet feel under strain internally.

Many of the people I work with are capable, thoughtful, and managing well outwardly, yet experience significant internal strain.

They often hold significant responsibility in their personal or professional lives, yet internally feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected.

You may be used to being the person others rely on, while quietly struggling yourself.

Who This Is For

This space may feel helpful if you:

  • Function well day to day but feel under constant pressure

  • Hold high levels of responsibility at work or in family life

  • Appear confident yet experience anxiety, self-doubt, or burnout

  • Feel emotionally flat, stuck, or disconnected despite success

  • Want depth and insight rather than quick fixes

Common Reasons People Reach Out

People often reach out for support with:

  • Burnout or chronic stress

  • High-functioning anxiety

  • Imposter feelings

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Perfectionism and internal pressure

  • Life transitions or identity shifts

  •  Feeling ‘fine’ on the surface but not fulfilled

  • Noticing that success or responsibility is affecting your relationships or emotional connection

  • Feeling alone in your responsibilities or success, with few spaces where you can think things through openly

How I Work

My approach is psychologist-led and grounded in depth and understanding, rather than surface strategies. We focus on:

  • Understanding patterns and underlying drivers

  • Making sense of emotional responses

  • Creating space for reflection and clarity

  • Developing sustainable change

The work often blends therapeutic depth with practical insight, at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and capable, yet have not always had consistent emotional support in their lives. Therapy can become a steady, reflective space where you are not holding everything on your own, a place to think, feel, and make sense of things alongside another person, at your own pace.

This work is not about fixing you, but about having a place to think and feel safely.

What Therapy Can Help You Move Toward

Over time, therapy can support you to:

  • Feel less internally pressured

  • Develop clearer boundaries

  • Increase emotional balance

  • Feel more connected to yourself

  • Live and work in a way that feels more sustainable

Practical Details

  • Sessions are offered online

  • Frequency can be weekly or flexible depending on needs

  • This is a confidential, private self-pay service

  • Because much of my work involves longer-term therapeutic relationships, availability for new clients can at times be limited.

I am a Chartered and Registered Psychologist with extensive experience supporting high-functioning adults navigating stress, burnout, and complex life pressures.

If this resonates, you are very welcome to get in touch to discuss whether this approach feels right for you. There is no obligation, simply an opportunity to explore what you might need.

You don’t need to know exactly what you want to say, just a few details is enough, and I will respond personally.

Therapy offers a place where you do not have to hold everything on your own.
